In my form, if someone selects "Termination" as the Reason, I want the "End Date" to become required. As soon as I set the rule to make that field a required field, no one can enter a form even if they put an end date in that field. It gets a dashed red line around the box, indicating that the field requires a value, even though there's a value in there, and the user cannot submit the form. Any ideas? I have to add that it works just fine as intended in Preview Mode. For some reason, all of my validation rules are acting like this now, and before it was fine. Thanks.

Is this a browser form? Was it working in the browser before and just now broke? Are you using SharePoint online or on-prem? I just tried adding a new validation rule to a field in a form (attached - save the attached file locally, right click and select design and you can see the validation rule on the date time field) and it appears to be working as anticipated in the browser in SharePoint online, but I don't have an on-prem site handy to check with.

Hi Hilary, yes, this is a web form. I use validation rules on other items in the same form and they seem to work fine. Are you limited to the number of validation rules you can have in one form? Thanks for your file, I did look it over and it appears to be the exact same thing I'm trying to do.

I solved my problem! On the Date date picker, I created a new Validation Rule that says, if the End Date is blank and the Reason equals Termination, then make the End Date required. I was doing it the other way, where on the date picker, I said if the Reason equals Termination, then make the End Date required. Silly me. :)
