    Dear Experts,

I am trying to make a survey using InfoPath...How to make it interactive in share points please? For instance, everytime users fill out the form, then the survey results will be available automatically ( as a charts or something)...

    Please help me...

Re: How to make interactive survey

Hi Rully and welcome to our forum,
We have a survey form and we have technology to show results in SharePoint. The problem with "updating the results automatically" is that the results have to exist. Updating the survey is easy - just Edit Template on the Modify Columns and Settings page. Then, you can define special "views" to report on your data, but when you change the survey, if the old forms don't have the new result fields in them, data for those new columns won't be available. So, depends on what you need.

You can fill out forms and save the results by clicking File then Save. This will save an XML file that is linked to the form template that it was filled out in. When you double-click the xml file it will open in the form template and you can see all of the values that were input.

What kind of information regarding Sharepoint were you looking for? Sharepoint has a wide range of capabilities and can be very useful in deploying Infopath forms for users to fill out and submit.

Let us know if you have any more questions!

    Dear Matt,

What I am trying to make is, when all users fill the survey form, it will calculate for survey results such as charts, graphs, and so on...How to do this? Do I need to do this manually (if yes, how to do it please?) OR I can see survey results automatically (if yes, how to do it please?)...Please give me a walktrough for this...

Thank you very much for your kind attention and helps.

Re: How to make interactive survey

Oh, ok, I think I understand what you're looking for now. I don't mean to disappoint you, but InfoPath is not meant for generating reports, MS says that InfoPath is mainly meant for data collection. I know this is frustrating (it has frustrated me!), but you will be better off using some other tool to create charts and graphs. Also, depending on what type of information you are storing you might want to submit your forms to a database instead of saving them in XML. This way it is much easier to query the data for reporting. However, if you have already saving survey results in XML you could make a little program (using C++, Java, etc.) to parse the XML files and write them to a database.

Sorry to disappoint you, but creating printable reports in Infopath is quite difficult and I can't imagine how hard it would be (if not impossible!) to generate charts and graphs. You might want to look at Crystal Reports to run reports on the database that stores your results.

    Hope this helps, good luck!

Re: How to make interactive survey

    Hi again,
Please look at creating an Excel form that pulls from the InfoPath form library (via a data grid view). Another option for calculating data on the server is to use some custom logic in the view columns or a SharePoint event handler. The latter requires admin privs to install. Good luck!

Re: How to make interactive survey

    Dear all experts,

I need a walktrough instead of explanation since it was confusing me....Please provide me a walktrough, from filling form into a survey form created by InfoPath up to creating the results...To make it simple, I will provide an example as follow:

Suppose there are 3 people who will filling the survey form...then all 3 survey can be looked on the share point or somewhat with the results of three survey...How to do this please..???..By just explaining like before, I won't know since I am a beginner...

    Thanks,

    Rully

What do you mean...???.."You have a survey form.....result in sharepoint."..Is that within the InfoPath? or in Sharepoint itself..??...or Infopath integrated with sharepoint..???

    Thanks,
