    Number of spots available

    Hi,

I have a registration InfoPath form (SharePoint list) with a number of spots available. I wonder is there a way to set auto-populate the "available spots" in the InfoPath form? Any suggestions or samples on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your help!

Depends on what the logic is, but I'd say yes.... You could query the same list, for example, and display a count of the already submitted forms.

     Hi Hilary,

Thank you for your help as always. It would be interesting if it's doable. How do you set a count of the already submitted forms? Should I use a "Set a field's value" = 1, each time the form is submitted? Can you be more specific steps on how to do this? Any examples?

For example, my logic would be total number of spots available 30. When the user registers for the class, the number of spots available will be 30 -1 = 29, etc. until the number of spots available will become Zero, then the user will not be able to register the class.

    Thank you,

If you query the list / library for all items (if that is appropriate here - not sure if you have a single list / library for a single class type, or if you should set a query field to get back just the items that are the same class type) you can use the count function to get the count of returned rows. If that count matches your max, they can't register.

     Hi Hilary,

I'm kind of getting your ideas by using query field. let me try in creating an example form. Then, I will send you a copy of it to see what I am trying to do. Thanks so much for your help. :=)

May I see a copy of the form? You can attach it under the options tab in a reply.
