File does not have a Preview - form not loaded

We are experiencing a new problem with a forms library hosted on SharePoint online. My colleagues are able to open the infopath form (in the browser) when creating a new entry however when then navigate to the XML forms library and try and open the new submission SharePoint is giving an message "mmmm.... looks like this file doesn't have a preview we can show you" then presents two options to open or download. Previously (a week ago) double clicking on an item would launch the form. Once you click the "open" the form is loaded with the correct detail but when the colleague clicks on close the form the browser returns a screen of XML data which I assume is the form data. I suspect that our friends in Microsoft may have changed the default behavior in a xml list to present a preview rather than just opening the required item. If anyone has any ideas on a resolution please share as this is impacting all of my forms libraries :-(

Yuck. So I just tested one of my libraries and that isn't happening for me .... yet. Can you check the version for your SharePoint online? Apparently this URL: https://yourtenant.sharepoint.com/_vti_pvt/service.cnf will return it (obviously, replace the first part of the URL with your tenant). That returns 16.0.0.21214 for me.....

Hilary, thanks for checking and responding. I created and published a new form to a new forms library to the same SharePoint site and this worked and allowed me to update. So I republished the form from the broken forms library and this seems to have resolved it. On checking another forms library which had the same issue rather than double clicking to open the form I right clicked and choose preview which provided the same error. I then right clicked again and choose edit in browser which opened the form as expected. By doing this very action subsequent attempts to open other forms in the same library worked! All very odd but I do have a follow call with Microsoft tomorrow to discuss what may have caused this issue. Performing that check you suggested I get the following: vti_encoding:SR|utf8-nl vti_extenderversion:SR|16.0.0.21214

So, it looks like we have the same version. Interesting to hear that it sort of automagically sorts itself out. If you get any good info from Microsoft, do you mind posting it here? I just found a solution to an issue I was having today in a ten-year-old post on this forum, so there's a good chance any resolution you find might help someone in the future. :)
