Changing a Document List to a FV Form

I have a list of 200 documents with metadata that I'd like to transition to an InfoPath form document library. I think I'll have to manually initiate each form record, but is there a way where I can use an Excel type view to populate all of the metadata information after each record is created instead of having to type each metadata piece one-by-one for each record?

I tried making one of the metadata fields as a Paramater (Input) and another as (Input/Output), but cannot change their value in the document library without going through the form (FV). I also tried using Quick Edit to no avail. It appears that if I want my document list to be accessed as a FV form, I'll have to re-create each one manually - thoughts?

Qdabra has a tool called XLS to XML that will create an XML file for each row in a spreadsheet - this might work well for your scenario, because you could export your metadata to Excel, create the XML, then upload the XML to your new form library. Another option would be to have logic in your form that allows you to load the data from your document library - maybe a secondary data connection to the library and logic that sets fields based on a selection in a dropdown (for example). Oh, and if you want to make the columns editable from the form library, you need to select the option shown here when you publish.
