    InfoPath form in SharePoint

I have created a VERY simple form to try and figure out how to approach the different stages of a workflow (via infopath). For example the first stage, Pending, next, Approve and or Deny... I created a form to fill out and save/submit to a form library on SharePoint, but having a hard time sending it as an email after submission... An additional email data connection was created, but I continue to receive an error msg. The form does save to the form library though! :) My final problem is figuring out how to display the form in a "pending view" after submission.

Can you tell me what the error message is? What are the submit rules?

I don't receive an error message, but when I access and submit the form in SP it: 1.) Goes the the SP list (as needed) 2.) Email's the "Approver" (me) What it doesn't do is: 1.) show the "approve" or "reject" buttons. I attached the file...

I don't see any rules that would change the form to the approver view when you re-open it? I'd expect to see those under Form Load rules.... I'm guessing that is what you want to do? Send the email, and when the recipient opens the form, open the approval view?

Yea, I do apologize... I'm new to creating one of these forms. I only added rules to the "submit button". When I fill out the form on SharePoint I get the "user end view", and when the email is auto sent right after, the "approval" view is received but with no buttons displayed to approve or reject... I'm really trying to figure out and understand the logic, but get confused when going down a rabbit hole of instructions found online.

Oh, I see now what you are saying. They won't be able to approve / reject from email. You'll need to include a link to the filled out form in the view sent in email, then they can click the link, and in your form load rules you can switch to the correct view so they can approve. I usually keep track of the user name for the approver, so I can compare that to the userName() function in InfoPath and choose whether to switch to the approval view.

Gotcha! I will give this a try and we'll see the outcome! Thanks so much for your guidance in this!
