Set a text field value on submit

I am trying to set the value of Request Type to the default value of a hidden field on the form. I have 4 different views that represent different request type. Each view has a hidden field that represents the type of request it is. I have tried to use rules to set field values not working, I tried using rules on submit to set this value. I know i am doing something wrong some where but nothing is being put into the request type field. Once I submit the form to SharePoint i expected to see something in the Request type field but nothing is showing up. I even created my own button and added the rules there still no results. Help! You need to set the value before you submit the form. Your rule actions are in the wrong order.

Looks right now - it looks like Request Type is promoted and also used in the file name. Since this rule is on the Submit Rules, all submit buttons in the form will set request type to AOP Evaluation and submit using the ECC Request library. What is the symptom that indicates this is "not working"? Is the request type not in the file name, not in the promoted field, not where you expect to see it on the form...?

Not showing up in the promoted field in Sharepoint. I realize i will have to have multiple submit connections for each but I was testing on this one to make sure it works. So far it is not filling in the field in Sharepoint on submit.

So when you test with a new form, does the Request Type show up in the file name? Because it looks like it is there too.

Attach one of the filled out forms (saved after you made the rule change) to a reply - I want to make sure the field is in the schema

Re: Set a text field value on submit

The good news is that the field is being set as anticipated (see screenshot, which shows the value of the field in the XML file). So there must be a different issue. You could try removing the column from the promoted properties and re-adding it, or you could try just re-opening this form and see if the value shows up in the promoted field. You may also want to check your library and see if there are duplicate columns and the wrong one is showing in the view. Contrary to your reply, I also see that the request type (AOP Evaluation) is in the file name of this XML file, so it looks like now that you have the rules in the correct order, this is fixed as well.

Of course you are brilliant again, now i just need to figure out how to get the Request Type in the submit to work. I am seeing the Request type (second field) showing up in SharePoint, any suggestions on how to get it to work in the submit?
