Text box allowed number of characters

Hi all, I need to add a text box that would allow more than 255 characters, is the only option a rich text box? If so, how much space does the rich text box take up as I’m close to capacity on my form? Any workaround would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like this is a list form? I think the limits depend on which version of SharePoint you are using - I should be able to help you find a page w/ that info if you can tell me your SharePoint version (2010, 2013, 2016, Online, etc)

Thanks for the response! I was able to find a workaround choosing the plain text option. Hope that helps someone else!
