    storage issue

For my project I need to have the results of an infopath form (the xml file) saved to a sharepoint site so someone can come in and review them. I have it submitting the sharepoint site fine , but I am having one strange problem. I came in today to try and read one of the files I created yesterday and it gave me an error saying it could not find some local manifest.xsf file. It does this for all the ones yesterdays, but when I quickly made another today and the script uploaded it, I could read it fine off the sharepoint site. Is there any changes that can cause this? I do not think it would be very practical that if the form changes and is republished that you can not even read old .xml files from the sharepoint site. Any ideas? Did I make sense?

    Hi tgo,
How did you submit the form to sharepoint?

    Is it by
    1. opening the manifest.xsf in design mode
    2. File->Preview
    3. Submit to sharepoint

or did you click on "Fill out a Form" at sharepoint.

If you did the first way then the form will point to "manifest.xsf' and will give an error when the you try to open the same form. It will give this error because xml file will point to the manifest.xsf, and will look for that manifest.xsf at the previous location.

If it was the second way i am not sure why it has happaned.

One more thing that you should have done is just relink the forms instead of uploading the forms again. Relink will make your xml files point to the template.xsn at your sharepoint form library.

I submitted the form with some custom code and PUT it on the sharepoint. Just to clarify the form I am talking about is the filled out with the persons answers to the questions.

So after the code put it on the site, and I tried to go back and open up the form from inside of sharepoint like an admin would do when reviewing the form, it gave me that error. I tried right clicking and opening and I also saved it to my computer.

I am sort of confused now because now I am not even sure what files are supposed to be there. I cannot just have the forms submit themselves, then view them after? If not what file(s) need to on the server for it to work.

    Thanks for your reply

    EDIT:

I did the relink option and it seems to be working now. So anytime the form is updated and republished I need to relink the existing forms? If not when do I know I need to do this?

    thanks again.

You dont need to relink the forms if your form(template.xsn) is republished over the previous form(template.xsn).
You need to relink the forms if the forms are filled, out of the template that you are using.

You need to relink the forms while you upload the forms to sharepoint.

We have tool out there which does this for you. It is avalilable for a small amount of 10$
