Opening InfoPath web form from URL in Excel

I have a table in Excel with a column of text containing URLs to various InfoPath .xml documents in a SharePoint library. If I copy a given URL from Excel to the clipboard and paste it into a browser, it opens the desired InfoPath form. If I click on the same URL in Excel, it activates the browser window and prompts me to download the .xml file. What am I missing here?

I've actually run into this before - and was not able to find a work around. If I recall correctly, I tried modifying the URL params to see if I could force the form to open - in the end, we told the end users to copy / paste the links into the browser URL bar, which was not a good solution at all. What do your URLs look like? They have the params for opening in the browser?
