    Digitally signing the form template

    I have a managed code solution done in VS2005, C#.NET 2.0, InfoPath 2003 SP1.
I need to sign the form template with a digital certificate and deploy it to the users. So far I have been unable to find information on how exactly to go about signing the template.
I have a MS Authenticode certificate from a trusted root CA.
    Has anyone done this??

Yes, before publishing your form go to Tools-Form Options-Security-Set Your From to Full Trust- and on the bottom select Sign this form and select your certificate. Now you can publish your form. Once the users want to open the form the first time they need to install the certificate once. from then on they can open all your froms signed with this specific cert. Keep in mind, the usual lifetime for the certs is one year.

    Come on, I know this.
The problem is how to get the certificate I have to show under Select certificate. I read an article that describes the process using the SignCode vsmacro included with the InfoPath SDK but it is for Visual Studio 2003 and so far I haven't been able to use it.

I have figured it out. The vsmacros included in the InfoPath SDK do not work under VS8 because the signcode tool has been renamed to signtool and it takes different arguments as parameters.
To sign the form template use signtool.exe located in the bin folder of the VS SDK. Make sure you include the root certificate when signing or else end users will not be able to recognize the issuer and will not be able to open the form.

If you want to get a useful answer you have to ask meaningful questions.

But yes you are right as I am using VS 2003 I never faced that problem.

Re: Digitally signing the form template

hi, would you mind describing the complete step?

    What I did was:

    1. generating my own self signed certificate file and private key using makecert.exe

    2. have them installed into folders: Trusted  Root Certificate Authorities and Personal

But then, when i try to sign my form from inside InfoPath,  Tools - Form Options - Security & Trust - Sign this form template - select certificate, it wasn't there

Did I do the correct step? Thx before
