    VSTO 2005 *First* edition

I have Office 2003 and Visual Studio 2005 and I want the original Visual Studio Tools For Office (VSTO), *NOT* VSTO Second Edition (SE) which works with Office 2007. Microsoft has links on the site for the download of VSTO SE, but not the older version that works with Office 2003. Anyone know where I can download it? Thanks!

SE also works with 2003, although you have to do some digging through their online text to discover this.

    Re: VSTO 2005 *First* edition

Hey Greg, thanks for the response.

So what I want to do specifically is write forms for infopath 2003 with Visual Studio 2005 C#. I'm not sure this specific feature of VSTO 2nd Edition is compatible with office 2003, do you know?

    From the MS website:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5e86cab3-6fd6-4955-b979-e1676db6b3cb&DisplayLang=en)
"Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the 2007 Microsoft Office System ... is an add-on to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 that enables you to build application-level add-ins for applications in the 2007 Microsoft Office system and the Microsoft Office 2003 System.

VSTO 2005 SE includes support for Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 form template projects, previously available as a separate product known as the Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 Toolkit for Visual Studio 2005. You can now design InfoPath 2007 form solutions right in the Visual Studio 2005 environment if you have InfoPath 2007 installed on your computer. "

See it keeps mentioning 2007 specifically with regards to Infopath :(

Yes, this works for both 2003 and 2007. I am currently using it to design 2003 managed code forms.

    Re: VSTO 2005 *First* edition

I just installed it and it didn't seem to provide that functionality for me. I installed it and then opened up Visual Studio 2005. Under "New Project" there was a new "Office" section and it had add-ins for other things, but not infopath. I'm guessing it did not install the infopath add-ins since I did not have office 2007 installed (based on the quote from my last post).
This is puzzling. Did you have office 2003 AND 2007 installed when you installed VSTO?

It might be your downloading the wrong product... try this link:

    Re: VSTO 2005 *First* edition

looks like that is just the runtime, not the actual VSTO software.

Hmm. Let me look to see if I can find anything different than the one you had.

    Re: VSTO 2005 *First* edition

It looks like you still would need to download VSTO from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5e86cab3-6fd6-4955-b979-e1676db6b3cb&displaylang=en

This appears to be the correct place. But what seems to be missing is InfoPath 2003 support in VSTO SE. What does allow interconnection between IP03 and VS05 is the InfoPath 2003 Toolkit for Visual Studio

    VS 2005 version:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=00779894-E95F-4B22-8590-07584C891207&displaylang=en

    VS 2003 version:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=7E9EBC57-E115-4CAC-9986-A712E22879BB&displaylang=en

I am not positive whether you can successfully run the VS05 toolkit along side VSTO SE... You can try. If you are only doing VS dev for InfoPath, and they can't run along side each other, then you probably only want the toolkit.
