    People Picker field

I have a SP List with a 'Person or Group' field. After the form is submitted by email, the Person/Group field is blank. I set it as Cannot be Blank, but the field contents don't get submitted.

Ideas? Thanks for any tips or suggestions.

So - it is blank in the email? Or blank when you reopen the list item?

The field in the email is blank. The List shows the name.

I set the field 'Cannot be Blank' but in the email that field is still blank.

I'd guess the people picker is just not displaying correctly in the email. If you show the advanced view of the schema in the fields task pane in InfoPath, you should be able to add a calculated value for the Display Name in the people picker - I'd do that and see if it shows correctly in the email. If it does, you could add some form logic to show / hide the control when emailing.

If I click the dropdown for DisplayName in advanced view and select More, it says 'some controls have been hidden because they are not supported by InfoPath Form Services'. I don't see the People/Group field in that dropdown.

From the controls pane, select a calculated value control. From the formula editor, select the main data source. Be sure it is showing in the advanced view. Navigate to the display name field for your people picker and select it.

OK, that worked. The name shows up in the email, but why doesn't it work w/o the calculated field?

     Thanks again for your help!

Emailed form views are finicky. I've had a number of controls not render correctly, tables look wacky, and so on. Could be that People Pickers are just in the realm of "controls that don't render nicely in email". :-)
