Querying data from SAP into an Infopath Form

Hello, currently looking to see if there are any current solutions to integrating SAP with Infopath. Production currently has material "masters" full of unique order info stored in SAP which the old forms use to fill out information sections. My objective is to be able to enter a material code and be able to fill in information fields in the form with one search button. Using this material master search, operators do not need to manually input every field. I've tried googling but many results are from pre-2010. What would be the best way to go about integrating SAP and Infopath/Sharepoint? Is there reliable software or infopath add-ons that I could request?

My guess is that nothing currently exists that does this. You may be able to create your own web service for it, or perhaps you could add a linked SQL server and use a SQL data connection to get the data.

We have decided to look into alternatives to Infopath and exploring all options. It seems Access has better functionality for what we are looking for.
