I have a number of custom document information panels which I published to our SharePoint site on our SBS 2011 server. We have now upgraded our server so the original SharePoint site no longer exists.
So now, if I open any document which links to the old SharePoint server, have to click through at least four prompts before Word stops complaining! It is driving me mad!
So I have two issues. What can I do about the existing documents to stop the incessant prompts for Smart Cards etc, and what can I do to update the template for new documents? I have managed to create some new DIPs which now refer to the new SharePoint server / site, but I can't seem to edit the existing Word documents to simply update the SharePoint link. I realise I can completely delete the XML data from the Word document, but then I will presumably lose all the data stored in them (some of which is important).
Is there any way of either redirecting the SharePoint references to the new site (I am using identical site columns etc.), or updating the existing Word documents to refer to the new site.
Sorry if this is a naïve question but I spent half of Saturday searching for an answer and couldn't find one.
Thanks,
Andrew
