Try this one. Save locally, right click and select design to preview - First Name won't get set because of the user name differences, but you can at least see the results of the user name function and the substring-after function. I also added some row highlighting - do any rows highlight in preview? Publish, open in the browser. Do any rows highlight in the browser? Does First Name get set to your name in the browser?

in the preview the eric tipton etipton columns were highlighted. when i published it and it worked so how can i do that without all the names and everything

I have figured out that the calculated value field has to be there for the text field to be populated. Out of curiosity why is that? I mean it works that's all that matters but still curious.

The calculated value field should not have to be there for the text field to be populated. I've never run into that before.

Well thanks for the help. I have tested that formula using the calculated value with other forms and it works with them too. Thanks again for all your help.
