I am creating a form for our detention center that will track their incidents simply called Incident Report. Currently the paper version of this report has multiple pages filled out by multiple users. The first page is just general information about the incident; one of the fields is a report number that is a unique identifier. This report could potentially also have a page(s) called supplemental reports filled out by others involved in the incident or witnesses to the incident (a basic statement form). I am thinking of creating a separate library that will house the supplementary reports because multiple users might create these simultaneously. However before the supervisor receives the report all pages (the Incident Report and all supplemental reports) need to be grouped together as one based off of that report number I mentioned.
An example of how the paper form is used incase I didn't make my self clear: A fight breaks out in the mess hall of the detention center, the first Correctional Officer on scene becomes the Reporting Officer and is responsible for the generation of the Incident Report. If the Reporting Officer called other correctional officers for assistance those officers are required to fill out supplemental reports. These reports get stapled together to form a packet and all must be viewed and approved by the Shift Supervisor who will sign off on them. Then this packet moves up the chain, for review and approval. Due to the reports time requirements once I make these electronic I need them to be available to multiple users simultaneously, which is why I did not think that creating the supplemental reports as a repeating table and as a view in the incident report would work in this situation.
Is it possible to have these forms merge after filling out? Is creating a separate library for the supplemental reports the best idea? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am using SharePoint 2010 and InfoPath 2010 and these are browser forms.
