I can't see your screenshot. Can you attach your template in a reply under the Options tab so I can take a look?

     Hello Hilary,

     Many thanks for your reply,

in fact i have changed my optic , i had a library and i changed it to a list beacause i don't want my items to be saved as docs .

Now i have some fixed fields (country, customer, project, business unit) and i want to add a repeating table on which a lot of periods of time will be added to one project , and for each time period i need to assign several resources.(please see below exemple)

could you please help me how to implemnt it .

If you wish to attach a picture, click on the Options tab in a reply and attach the file there. :)

I can't imagine being able to repeat that style of layout in a list form - the data structure is too complex. If you just had the topmost table of "fixed" fields and the table for resources - that would be achievable. But with the addition of the time periods table, it becomes more complicated that I think the limited data structure of a list form can support.

Sorry for my questions but really i need you help ...

Do you think we can not implement two repeating tables linked with an ID (id of time period) ?

i will give more explanation of what is required : fo the above project for period 1(2018/jan/W2) we need, 2 back end RED,3 front end TPM ,4 front end RE

For period 2 we need 2 TPM ...is there a nother way to do it ?

You'd have to have the data source for the other table in another list / form. So, the user would have to go fill out their time periods, then open this form to add the resources. Out of the box, we can't update a secondary data source. We also can't add rows in the UI to a secondary data source. I considered whether this could be done with an XML helper file (to use for the time period info) - but then we'd have to figure out a way to repopulate that every time an item was opened to edit, which would be challenging on its own. List forms are really not set up for complex data structures like the one you wish to implement.

So , the only solution is : the user fill out the time periods for a project, click save and he will be redirected to another form to fill out the assignements for every period ( he will chose the periods in a dropdown list), but how to make the link between both forms ( he will fill out the assignmnt for that project having these periods)??

I'd assume based on the project? You'd have a query to the list with the time periods in your resources form and use the project ID to get back the correct time periods?

Many thanks for your time and effort :)

i get your point but i don't know how to transfer the project id from the first form(where i have time periods) to the new one (where i will assign resources) when i click on save ?

You may be able to do this with web parts and query parameters in a web part page - but in general, InfoPath doesn't have anything built in to make this sort of thing easier. With list forms, you can't use code. This is what I've been trying to convey in terms of complexity with what you are trying to accomplish - that the user would have a number of manual steps that they would likely find frustrating.

I'm sorry, I am having trouble understanding the question. Are you saying you have another field you wish to include in the first section of the form, where you are only displaying one row? If so, the logic is on the submit rules - under the data tab in the ribbon, find the Form Submit button and you will see the submit rules in the task pane.

No , in fact i want to add my field in the second section(repeating table) for example an NPI could be front end or back end and so TPM,RE ...) and the user hava to make his choice .
