 I thought I had this one licked, Hilary Stoupa had helped me get it to work on a different form, so I tried to repeat it on a new one and I'm not getting any results.

 I have a people picker where when a user selects a person should populate other fields. I've set up rules on  'selectedaccount' field.

One: Set a field's value with the Field set to 'AccountName' and the Value set to the 'selectedaccountfield'.

Two: Query for data with the GetUserProfileByName Data Connection

Three: Set a field's value with the field set to one of the fields which needs to auto populate with the Value being: Value[Name = "Department"]. Screen grab below, I'm not getting any results when I'm selecting people. Am I being thick? Form attached.

Going round in circles on this. I've set the rules up on the selectedaccount field and as a Form Load rule.

The selectedaccount field needs a default value - usually, that would be the account ID from the people picker. If you set a value in the selectedaccount field (I see it is currently on the form) either manually or by adding a default value, do your rules run?

 I've set the default value to the AccountId and the rules aren't firing. In the Department I'm getting my own showing up despite putting a Query using a data connection action on the Form Load rule.

 

 

Can you attach your latest form? You don't want to be running these rules in form load but on the selectedaccount field.

 You don't have any rules on the selectedaccount field? Why not? When I looked at your form from earlier in this thread, you had the rules in the right place, but were missing the default. Rules run when a field changes. Thus, if selectedaccount will have the account id that you want to query on, the rules need to go on selectedaccount. Does that make sense?

 Yes makes sense. I've moved the rules back to the 'selectedaccount' field and I'm using the Query using a data connection but I'm getting my own details back again? I don't know why. I've attached a screen grab and the rejiggd form. I really appreciate your help Hilary.

 

You have to set the query field before you run the query. Move the query rule down a step.

 Thanks Hilary, that worked!  It was the default value which hobbled me!
