Access Denied when publishing new InfoPath form to SharePoint Library

    Hi,

I created a new blank template form with the intention of publishing it to SharePoint and letting it create a new library in the process. However when I try to publish I get an Access Denied message and asking me to add the site to a list of trusted sites.

I do have my sharepoint site listed in IEs trusted sites, it has always been there.

I had done this a couple of months back and got the same issue, but I found a workaround online which fixed it, however I think something may have changed with Microsoft's authentication process as I can no longer use the workaround.

The workaround - Previously during login to O365 there was a button saying 'keep me logged in' ticking this button actually solved the above issue and I could then publish without any error. However the login page with this box has gone and I can no longer fix it this way.

It seems the two bits of software dont authenticate properly now and I can't see anyway to fix it. I've looked at the InfoPath security settings but I did not have to mess with these previously.

I can create a data connection when using lists or using it for a library template form just not when creating libraries. So maybe some kind of permission problem?

It would be great if someone else could try creating a new form and publishing it to a sharepoint site to see if this is replicated or not. Or any other advice on what may be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks

    Kenny

So - this is an Office 365 site? I can try test publishing to one my sites later today - yesterday I customized an Office 365 list with InfoPath and that worked as anticipated...

As far as I know it is an office 365 site, we are using SharePoint Online, would be great if you could test. As I say List integration seems to work but not creating a form library from publishing options is Infopath.

Re: Access Denied when publishing new InfoPath form to SharePoint Library

I just tried publishing a new form to an Office 365 site and ended up in an authentication nightmare - I signed in when prompted, and get a popup window showing the administrative center. But if I try a different tenant (I have several clients who use Office 365) I don't have the same issue. I wonder if you go under the Account (upper right corner when in InfoPath Designer) and tried signing out and back in...

Re: Access Denied when publishing new InfoPath form to SharePoint Library

     Hi Hilary,

I signed out and back in again and tried again. This time however I get a different message from the access denied one:

'InfoPath cannot save the following from https://xxxx/xxxx/xxxx/xxxx etc. This document library was either renamed or deleted, or network problems are preventing the file from being saved. If the problem persists contact your network administrator'

When I checked back in SharePoint, the new library did exist but with a refresh it disappeared again.  I'm certain there are no network issues. So it is interesting that the message changed but it still hits me with an error at the same point which stops me from progressing with this. Any ideas?

Update - I tried logging in and out a few more times in Sharepoint and InfoPath and tried again - the original access denied message is back! Very confusing!

Maybe create a library in SharePoint, then, when publishing, select the option to update an existing library? Worth a shot....

Hi Hilary, I tried as you suggested and I get the same thing, an access denied message. Can you confirm if you successfully managed to create a new library via publishing in Infopath or not?

Yup, I can publish an InfoPath form to a new library. I was having a weird authentication issue, but it was just that my password was expired. Once I updated it, I had no problems.

OK - maybe this is some kind of internal issue caused by my employers systems and how they interact with Office365. Feels to me like some kind of permission problem.

     Hi Hilary,

Still having issues with this - can I ask, are you using sharepoint online or on-premis?

    Thanks

I tested with Office 365. You may want to open a ticket with Microsoft - see if they can figure out what's going on....
