Drop-Down selection as a value in a rule.

Hi there, I am struggling finding any info on this but i want to create a total using a drop-down list - so if the user selects setup - and totals his/her hours that it sums all the time from the selection in the dropdown list. Then if the user selects take-down another field will add up all the take-down hours. The problem is I am trying to use the values from the drop-down list into rules, but I can seem to get it to work. In the rule I select text - "setup", but it doesn't seem to register that input - am I missing something, or is this just not possible with drop-down lists. I am using a repeating table if that makes a difference.

This should be possible - but I'd understand your question a lot better if I could see your form? Can you attach it to a reply under the Options tab?

Ok.. but confidential. below the grand total hours section, I have a field that says Setup hours - where I want a total from the selection from task day 1 - hours - to sum all rows that the selection is setup. does that make sense?

You only want day 1 setup hours in setup? Or setup hours from any day?

Setup hours on any day, I just had it there for testing.

So - I'd use a default for this. If you have a default in SetupHours like this: sum(../../my:LabSumDay1/my:LabSumRepeatDay1/my:RowTotalDay1[../my:TaskDay1 = "Setup"]) + sum(../../my:LabSumDay2/my:LabSumRepeatDay2/my:RowTotalDay2[../my:TaskDay2 = "Setup"]) and just add in all your other days that you want to include, this will get you the totals that have the task setup. Basically, when you pick the field, you can add a filter (the part in the square brackets) to indicate which rows you want.

Hi Hilary - for some reason this works on my computer with form filler, but not online - any idea why? it only sums day one and thats it.

NEVERMIND. I got it to work by setting my postback settings to ALWAYS - on my rowtotals. thanks so much Hilary - my form is about complete!
