Hello everyone,

I am using InfoPath 2003 SP2
stand-a-lone, have not published the SharePoint yet.
a form that uses a data connection to an XML data file of users and their phone number and emails. I use the XML data file to update/populate a dropdown list. I have set the dropdown list to except input for the user also. I would like to be able to update the XML data file with the new data input.

Question is can I update XML data file from InfoPath Form?

I am not sure if this is possible or not, but if it is any help with be appreciated

Hi Jim and welcome to the forum!

I can't think of an easy way to do this using an XML form as your secondary data source. You could, however, move the user list to SharePoint and use the following tutorial to update that list from the form.

that worked great.. Just working out now how to get the Editable drop down to kick off a process to allow the user to enter a new user.

I have a question.. The Example works great. I have a question about the repeating table from the template.xml

the table displays Bold Name and Field
and then when viewing the page you see the name of the fields from Template.xml
Title
FirstName
Email
WorkPhone
which is good.. but I would like Title to be LastName or something like that. I have changed the name in the template.xml and process stop working.

step I have done..
changed the template and reloaded the template back into the form.
resetup the data connection for submit
resetup the refresh button
resetup the repeating table for template.xml on the form
save form
preview form - enter data in the table and submit data and refresh and nothing happens. I change the field name back to "Title" and everything works.

Is there a way to do this.. being new to InfoPath not sure if it is or isn't ..
