Submitting a different view via email

Hi - yep me again :)

I'm trying to re-arrange the way a form is submitted. The completed form looks like a form but I want to then submit the collated data in a basic method - so I created a second view which has the inputted data. Ive added a rule which when the user submits the form it changes to the "basic" view and submits the form via email. The problem is the email received is blank (but the form contains data prior to submitting).

Any thoughts as to why this is or if Im going about it the wrong way?

    Thanks

This is one of those PITA things in InfoPath Filler. In the Browser, you can switch views and email. In the Filler, you get this icky bug where the email is blank. Instead of using a different view, we use two sections - one that is displayed when the form is filled out and one for emailing. Basically, you can copy your current main view into one section in a view, and your email view into another section. I'm attaching a basic sample that demonstrates the technique. Save the attached file locally, right click and select design and then you can preview & take a look at it.

I thought I'd append to this question as it would make more sense. Is there a reason if I add an attachment function to the form it doesn't arrive as part of the submitted email? In my submit settings I've got it set as send only the active view of the form and no attachment as I don't want to send the form data as an attachment?

    Thanks

Unfortunately, this is just a feature that InfoPath doesn't support. Do you submit your form to a SharePoint library? If so, you may want to consider sending a link to the form (so users open the original and have access to the attachment).

Ah ok, the form is submitted to an email address rather than SharePoint. I think sometime in the future we might think about submitting to SharePoint.

     Thanks anyway :)

Re: Submitting a different view via email

Hi Hilary, I am trying to create a workflow process using Infopath and SP Designer Workflow. I have multiple views in Infopath form where the form navigates from one stage to other after approval. Though submitting the data for first time, the view in the browser window changes. But i have a SP Designer Workflow which sends email to the next approver and they need to access the switched view of the current item. When i append the Current Item , Edit URL in the email, it only shows me the original view but not switched view Can you help me here to capture the switched view to send through SP designer WF email?

Is this a list form? If so, I've read you can append &DefaultView=Approval to the URL. https://blogs.elon.edu/techgeeks/2013/08/20/sharepointinfopath-link-to-a-particular-view-in-an-infopath-form-in-sharepoint-by-the-url/
