InfoPath Dev

I want to write some code behind a submit button that takes data collected from form fields and puts it in a caml file attached to the form as a 2ndary data source and submits it so that it calls the updatelistitems web service in sharepoint (which is all set up and already works fine).

If I have field1 field2 and field3 for example, how can I make the following structure acccept these values and submit?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Batch OnError="Continue">
<Method ID="1" Cmd="New">
<Field Name="field1"></Field>
<Field Name="field2"></Field>
<Field Name="field3"></Field>
</Method>
</Batch>

I know that it needs to end up looking something like

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Batch OnError="Continue">
<Method ID="1" Cmd="New">
<Field Name="field1">value1</Field>
<Field Name="field2">value2</Field>
<Field Name="field3">value3</Field>
</Method>
</Batch>

Have you looked at Matt Faus's HowTo on how to update SharePoint lists using InfoPath? There is also an example in Chapter 9 of our book. I'm not sure either is what you want, but without understanding your requirements in more detail, my first response is to look at them. Send me or Matt e-mail, and we can help you with pointers.

Actually it was Matt's How to that got me going down this path. I appreciated his help but when I left this same question on that thread it went unanswered so I was hoping someone that watched this coding thread would have an idea. I am not sure which book you are talking about.
