How to Deploy InfoPath in the Remote Machine

    Dear Friends,

I have created New InfoPath with .NET Tool Kit in my local machine.
I remove the publish URL from mainfest file.
I create new register.js file that to register the project and there I mention the file URL.
I have includes some picture file...

How can I make all things to remote server. What are thing should be needed to deploy in the Server.

How can I make the InfoPath as installable file like asp.net if suppose Where I suppose to refer my constant URL in the Project ( like web.Config enteries in asp.net).

    Anyone can help me out?..

    Regards,
    Vasanth.

    Hi Vasanth

first i need to know if you have enabled full trust in your form. This is (almost always) neccessary when using managed code.

secondly when editing your manifest url (to a uri namespace) you make your form able to run from any client you should choose to install it on.

you install it on a client using .js file or (as i prefer) using RegForm that creates an MSI installer package.

this is the main difference between installing on a server (for example a sharepoint form library) and on a client.

A search on regform on this forum should give you more info on how to create a MSI package.

Re: How to Deploy InfoPath in the Remote Machine

    Hi AndersR,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Yes,I gave my forms full trust while I am developing, the way..
    1. Remove the publish URL from the Manifest file and using js script to register form.

So I can deploy in the remote machine(client's server). Its really helpful to me.

I am also did something thats,

    1. Take the copy of XSN file.. put in the same machine(development machine) in different folder.
    2. Open it in design mode and extract it in different folder.
    3. Made some Changes in the manifest.xsf file.. thats
    change urn: to urn:myforms:mycompany.
remove the href from the template.xml and add the urn on it.

    4. Repacking it to cab file and change to xsn.
    5. Using js to register the form.. but the form is not register properly... the message that I got is ,

    ---------------------------
    Windows Script Host
    ---------------------------
    Script: C:\InfoPath\Release\Register.js
    Line: 3
    Char: 1
Error: The following form template cannot be registered: C:\InfoPath\Release\myforms.xsn
The form template contains files that are not referenced in the form definition (.xsf) file or are referenced more than once.
    Code: 8004309F
    Source: InfoPath

Hmm the error doesnt ring any bells, but it sounds like you have accidentially corrupted your manifest or template file.

Try and grab an older build (you *are* using source safe or similar right?;-) from before you did the change and see it this one can be converted to an MSI file.

I think if you use makecab (installed by default on most Windows platforms) you can propery change the extension to .xsn directly and it will work.

Re: How to Deploy InfoPath in the Remote Machine

    Hi Vasanth

when you publish to a sharepoint portal, the url in the manifest is the unique identifier, just as is the case when you set your own namespace/urn.

when you publish a trusted / signed form to a sharepoint form library you therefore need to replace the default template.xml for the library with your own.

theres a description for this on MSDN:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/ipsdk/html/ipsdkDeployURNFormToSharePoint_HV01086376.asp?frame=true

Re: How to Deploy InfoPath in the Remote Machine

    Hi AndersR,

I am still confuse that I have already remove the publish URL from the Manifest file and I change the urn to my own and same thing I did in the template.xml and then compress it to xsn.

After that I have register the xsn file using js file in the computer.

Any steps needs more to publish it in the SharePoint library?

    Vasanth.

Re: How to Deploy InfoPath in the Remote Machine

    Hi Vasant,

To deploy a fully trusted registered form in SharePoint, u cannot directly publish it.
There is a work around though as described in the following link.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/ipsdk/html/ipsdkDeployURNFormToSharePoint_HV01086376.asp

    Check it out.
Once u get the hang of it, its quite easy.

Abhishek: that link sure does look like the link i posted just above ;-)

Vasanth: did you follow the description in the article step by step?

Follow the one called "Deploying a Fully Trusted, Registered Form to a Form Library" and you should have that form running from sharepoint in no time :-)

Re: How to Deploy InfoPath in the Remote Machine

    HI,

I followed each steps in the link... but finally I concluded that..

if I publish it into the SharePoint Library..wherever the user way to fillout the form using different machine..there are also the form template needs to be install and register there right?..

So I have to mention the server path of the msi file also is it?..

    Anyway other way is there?...

    Regards,
    Vasanth.
