    Prevent form update

I have a library of infopath forms in Sharepoint that I don#%92t want to update the underline xml when I publish a new form. The reason for this I have digitally signed the old forms and I don#%92t want to lose the signatures when I publish new forms with different xml schema. Is it possible to prevent this behavior.

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. If you open the forms in read-only mode, would this work?

You can prevent this behavior by doing the following steps

    1. Open the form in design mode
    2. Go to “Form Option” in “Tool” menu bar
    3. Select “Advanced Tab”
    4. Select “Do Nothing(existing forms might not work properly)” value in “On Version Upgrade” dropdown list,
    5. Click “Ok” and save the form
    6. Publish the form to share point

    I Hope this help you

If you use the "Do Nothing" option what types of changes would cause the "existing forms" not to work? If future changes are limited to only adding new fields and not deleting or re-naming fields would this present any problems with any of the forms that existed prior to the upgrade?

    Thanks

Depends on whether or not those additional fields are required.

    1. How do you open a form in read only mode from a sharepoint library? This would be the desired option

    2. Setting the "Do nothing" option will not work because we get an xml error and the form will not display.

You can do this by modifying user permissions by Clicking Site Settings -> Manage Users in the SharePoint site.
