    File Find - HTML Code???

    I am trying to load an xml file into infopath. The file is located on a shared drive and I would like the user to be able to browse from the form to find the right xml file. Where might I find sample code for a "Browse" or "File Find"??? Thanks

    Hi,

    Why can't your users open InfoPath and use the open link on the "Fill Out a Form" window that opens up? They can even have access to the "Recently Used Forms" to gain time.

    Thanks for the response Franck. We are using InfoPath in a unique implementation. We have created a form that is a SuperBill for a physician office. The user opens up the superbill form. The top portion is Demographic data on the patient. Instead of having to type this in we load the data from a XML file passed to a shared directory by the billing system. The user needs to:
    1. Open the standard superbill form in infopath.
    2. From the form: today they must type the path and file name to load the xml file.
    3. We would like to add the ability to browse to the shared directory that stores the xml files and allow the user to select the file to load.

    The goal is to allow the user to browse for file from the infopath form, not have to type the exact path and file name. This is cumbersome.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,

    OK, I see what you trying to do now. One solution is to build your own ActiveX control around the one provided by MS in VB6 for example.

    Re: File Find - HTML Code???

    This wouldn't solve your problem quite as elegantly as what Franck is suggesting, but it would be an incredibly fast implementation for the meantime.

    Create an HTML file with the following code (feel free to customize as needed):
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>nothing</title>
    </head>

    <body>

    <form>
    <input type='file' size='50' />
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    Now, save this somewhere, and add it to your form "Resource Files", by going to Tools -> Resource Files -> Add..

    Now, enable this HTML files as the custom taks pane, by going to Tools -> Form Options -> Advanced -> Enable Custom task pane.

    Now the task pane will be there with a browse button. Click the browse button, "open" the correct file and the filepath will be automatically generated in the HTML text field next to the Browse button. Simply copy paste this filepath into the form field that you have set up and viola!

    I'm not sure b/c I haven't really worked much with interaction between task pane and form, but there is probably a way to automate the copy paste from the task pane filepath to the form filepath.

    Hope this is helpful!
