    Infopath Script Code

    Hello,

I'm new to Infopath development and wanted to know a bit more about writing code for Infopath events. Does infopath use it's on bespoke language? is it an existing language such as javascript or C#?
Is there a language reference out there?

Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated

InfoPath can employ a variety of languages to guide automation. From my knowledge availabe language options break down as such:

    Scripting
    JavaScript
    VBScript

Managed Code (edit *corrected by Franck* )
    C#
    VB.NET

    Hi,

For managed code as code behind, you will be limited to C# and VB.Net.

Sounds good. Are there any good references on what can be done with info path?
How to use managed code and/or script? and the limitations that are placed on the code you can write when writing for infopath?

I seem to be getting quite proficient at data collation using Infopath but i'm sure it has a lot more to offer.

    Many Thanks

    Hi,

For scripting, I would start there:http://www.windowsitlibrary.com/Content/888/06/toc.html
For Managed Code, I would go there:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/odc_ip2003_tr/html/odc_INF_Lab_15.asp

After this, google is your best friend.

Now, if you want a more extensive set of references, you can you on the home page of this site and look at the books that are advertised there.

    Regards,

    Franck Dauché

    Superfly,

Some very helpful resources are help files that are probably already on your computer:
    • MSE10.CHM - Microsoft Script Editor Help (F1 when inside InfoPath's Script Editor)
      C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033\MSE10.CHM

    • Help files that comes with the InfoPath SDK
      C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2003 Developer Resources\Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 SDK\Help\

I made a shortcut to the MSE10.CHM file and refer to it often. :o)
