    Button properties

    Hi,

I was wondering if I can hide a button through the managed code (VB)? I know I can do it in InfoPath but I would like to display my button for only specific users which I would check during OnLoad event.

If there is no access to button properties using code I can always create an additional view without a button and swich to that view depending on user credentials. I was just curious if I can control button in the code.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

No there is no access to button show/hide property by code. In your case, why don't you use conditional formatting with user role instead?

In my situation the same user may have different roles. What is most important to me to know is who is opening the form: same person who created it, who approved it or someone else. But I found conditional formatting usefull in my situation too. I set button to "hide" comparing form's field values to secondary source values (user ID returned by web service).

Great. Indeed, conditional formatting seems to be the way to go in your case. From there, you can get creative and considering that you are already throwing secondary data sources and Web Services, you are way up there already!

    Good luck wit your developments.
