    Data Connection Password

Is there any way to keep the data connection username and password secure? As far as I can tell it will be stored as Clear Text... How can you be expected to have secure forms but then give everyone full access to the SQL server tables?

Are there any examples of making the data connection via code, and if so, is the username and password secure?

    Hi Sscarcella,
For domain authenticated intranet users, this isn't a problem. For internet-based users, we use https and have developed Web services to easily interface InfoPath forms with a Database. The Web services use Active Directory to authorize access to forms and we have an admin tool that lets you set template and form level permissions based on users, groups or fields in the form. For more info on our Web service suite, check out www.qdabra.com. Cheers!

    Re: Data Connection Password

I am talking about domain authenticated intranet users... I have a form with sensitive user information that the users input so they need to have SELECT, INSERT, and UPDATE permissions on the SQL server table in order to submit the data. I am fine with the users seeing their own information but do not want them to see other users information. I have secured the form so that they can only query on their own name but how do you secure the SQL server tables outside of the form if they need those permissions to submit from within the form.

How do you keep them from just opening the tables and seeing all the data outside of Infopath? Or accessing the same tables in the Infopath designer and seeing all the data in the table?

It would be perfect if I could just use a different username and password for the data connections to tables which I dont want users to have access to outside the form. Only problem is that the form stores the username and password as clear text.
