    auto populate field

    Situation:

    I am creating a new timesheet form. I have an access database that has 2 columns (ClientName & Client#). In my Infopath form I have 2 columns (ClientName & Client#). Both are drop downs. Right now I do have it to where you can use the drop down to find the Client Name and Client Number. What I want is the ability to select the client name and have the number automatically populate (or select the number and have the name automatically appear).

    I am new at this (obviously). Any tips?

    Shiva:

    Thanks for the welcome to the forum and thanks for the tutorial. The problem is that the Properties box for the Drop-Down List Box has no rules button to click. I have Data, Size, & Advanced tabs in the property box. Under the Data tab it has a section for Binding, Validation (it has a validation button but no rule button), and List Box Entries. It is infopath 2003.

    Any suggestions?

    I followed the tutorial at http://infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=9111ef580f95479890fc18fb2c5bac85

    and got lost at this point:

    The tutorial says to append to the XSL statement to make it look like this
    xdXDocument:GetDOM("Clients")/ClientInfo/Clients/Client/Name[../ID = current()]

    Mine looks like this to begin with

    xdXDocument:GetDOM "tblPromoItems")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:tblPromoItems/@Inventory

    I tried appending [../@inventory = current()]
    but always get errors on does not point to a valid location path of a field or group.

    What am I not undertanding?
    Thank you for your Help.
