    Dynamically call web service method

    Hi there,

I have a drop-down that is calling a web service method to populate the list. If the user clicks a checkbox next to the drop-down, I would like to re-populate the list by calling a separate method in the same web service. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hello

    Welcome to Infopathdev Forums

    Follow the following steps
Double Click on the Check Box to open properties and select Rules| and then Add|set Condition.
Select Check box field in the First drop down and "is equal to" and "True" in the third drop down and then add action to Query using a Data Connection and follow the instructions there of.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks, Kaylan.

If I add the action on the check box to Query using the proper Data Connection, how does it know to populate the drop-down with this new connection? Right now the values in the drop-down are just staying the same...

    Thanks again.

    Hello,

Actually you can keep two dropdown boxes populating them with respective dataconnections. And also using Conditional Formatting you can Show/Hide these drop down boxes. When the Check box is true show drop down 2 and when its false show drop down 1.

I hope it will help you.

Thanks - this does work but it is tricky to keep the alignment of the dropdown box consistent since they have to be on separate lines (can't have the two boxes appear in the same spot). Regardless I can probably make this work. Thanks for your help.

Unfourtantley I do not have Infopath installed yet, I am doing that this afternoon. But you might want to try exporting your infopath form and editing the actual template. I've been able to do some tricky things before by doing so, though I admit it's not the easiest thing to do.

Thanks for all of the help. I ended up using the show/hide method and have one dropdown above the other - the alignment seems to be fine once the checkbox has been selected and the appropriate dropdown becomes visible.
