Some rules not displayed in design mode after version upgrade - 2007 to 2010

I have a 2007 version InfoPath browser enabled form that does not utilize any managed code. Simply rules and conditional formatting. My goal is to upgrade the existing form to be compatible for version 2010. I am able to open the form using InfoPath Designer 2010, and change the compatibility to be 2010. However, I have noticed that *some* of the rules that existed on a button before the change are NOT displayed in the "Manage Rules" pane. What's worse is that the rules are still active when I publish the form to our SharePoint environment. This is highly undesirable since we won't be able to make any modifications to the rules if they are not being shown in the "Manage Rules" pane. I considered that we could simply delete the rules in the 2007 form and then re-create the rules in 2010, however this is a very timely process and we have 60+ form templates that need to be upgraded to 2010. Has anyone else ever encountered this? If so, what was your solution for addressing the issue?

Oh yuck - so you can see the rules in your IP 2007 browser form but when you save it as IP 2010, they go away? Can you attach a screenshot to a reply (under the options tab) that shows this? I've never seen this before - first thought I had was that your 2007 form was filler and the rule actions weren't browser compatible, but I see you've said that the 2007 form is browser. Any specific pattern to the missing rules?

I can't be 100% certain, but it seems to be action rules only, and only action rules that have a condition. Although some of the rules that DO display properly also have conditions. I didn't even have to save the form in IP 2010, just when I "Design" the 2007 template not all the rules are showing up. Snippet attached.

What are the actions on some of the missing rules? Do they just set a field's value or something?

Eureka! I didn't realize it before but the missing rules don't actually take any action. (let me clarify). The rules are on a button that controls navigation and we conditionally disable navigation if any of the required field values are missing. Once one of the rules' condition is met we "Stop Processing rules when this rule finishes" on that rule. However - in the rules that are not being displayed - there is no actual action being taken, simply the "Stop Processing...". I will do some more testing to verify that this is indeed why they're not being displayed. It seems logical now, i just didn't notice before... Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :)

Oh, that is EXACTLY it, you smarty pants - so, that was a change from IP 2007 to IP 2010, no "blank" rules. IP 2010 is no doubt removing those rules for you. What we do is have a little helper field (can be in a secondary data source, like an XML file) named "stop" - so if we need a rule where if a certain condition stops evaluation, we set stop to blank. :)

I would not have found that on my own, thank you again
