Just a follow up on the issue. 

Here is the latest information I received from MS this morning.  

We have found the issue is reproducible in house and This has happened post installing any of the below KB’s

The issue is caused due to an regression in Edge and we are actively working on this.

I'm not sure this issue relates to this one but I'll describe it and you can let me know if I should open a separate thread or not.

I added the about:internet in my Trusted Sites and I can now see the rules in the Rules Inspector. However, I noticed that it's missing a lot of rules.

To give a bit of background, this is a new form but I designed it differently from my previous forms in that, I have 2 views and I have Secondary data connection to an XML file that contains static information (dropdown list values, conditional values, section name, config values, etc.).  Are you experiencing the same or is Rules Inspector not strong enough for this rather simple design.

No, I'm seeing all my rules - do you see anything towards the top of either pane in the rules inspector that shows a processing error? Can you see anything in common about the missing rules?

 Nevermind, I think I can't see the forest for the trees today ;-) They were all Formatting rules. It's really too bad the Rules Inspector can't list those as well.

Something they've pushed out cleared it up. I wasn't able to remove updates b/c of our policies or change my internet settings. But I think the December updates fixed it on either 12/13 or 12/14!

This is caused by Security Update KB3197867. I uninstalled it, rebooted, and was able to use Rule Inspector again. Team could you please tell me if this the right approach or is there any permanent solution.

Thanks, bwhite05! I just tried removing about:intranet from my trusted sites & still have the issue. I'm on Windows 10 however, so perhaps it is not fixed there yet?

 I am still showing the problem here and after the latest December updates were applied.  Using Win 7, IE 11, InfoPath 2007, SharePoint 2007.  I am not able to set trusted sites to about:Intranet so have to live with it until Microsoft rolls out an update to fix my environment....

 

bwhite05 - do you know which specific update did the trick for you? 

 As follow up, my issue resolved itself - just noticed this week that all InfoPath forms calendar icons are back to normal now.  Not sure when but likely a Microsoft update fixed the problem at some point.
