Hi. I am attempting to place a validation rule on a date picker in an infopath form. I have a secondary data connection to a sharepoint list which contains a list of reserved dates. What I would like to achieve is once a date is selected in the date picker and it is equal to a reserved date value in the sharepoint list it would display "please choose alternative date". Any suggestions?

 In the validation rule on the date picker, the first condition would be that the field bound to the date picker is not blank. For the second condition, however, you need to find out if your form is storing just the date, or if it is a date time. Drag the data fields from your list connection onto your form, and make sure the control for the date from the list is displaying the XML value of the data. Then you should be able to use a substring-before to get back just the date part.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately still not getting anywhere with this.

My 'Select Date' field is part of a repeating table which is not bound to the secondary connection. Should this be the case?

I have tried the below conditions on the validation rule...

 SelectOfficeLocation is equal to Office A and

SelectDate is equal to Date[current() = ID]

 Any further suggestions appreciated!

Perhaps you could attach a copy of your template to a reply (under the Options tab) - that may help me understand the issue better.
