    Mayby this could help - if you want to make button disabled, just before setting mark "disable this element" set the color of text to grey and then mark disable

    Thanks, aendrous.  This makes sense and I will try it instead of using an image.  However, I did some testing and when a button is disabled, it reacts the same as if it was hidden, meaning that InfoPath doesn't recognize that it is reenabled until AFTER the user hits the tab button and is already back to the top of the form.  =(
