One InfoPath 2013 Form - potential starting/launch different ways

I have a process that I have built out using an InfoPath 2013 form on SharePoint. I started with the most common way, which is when a check is received. One user scans that check and starts it starts the Transmittal Form. I have worked that form all the way through the process and it works pretty well from the scanning in until the whole flow is completed. Basically the process is -

    1. Person A scans

    2. Person B assigns

    3. Person C completes the details and confirms back

    4. Person B accepts the details and marks complete.

However, there are situations where the checks don't arrive via mail, but rather are given directly to a person. In that situation, I no longer have the first two steps in the process - so the process would be

    1. Person C scans and completes the details to submit

     2. Person B accepts the details and marks complete

I thought that if I have to, I could just make a copy of the existing InfoPath form and call it something like "self submitting" and both of the forms could submit to the same library. However, if we ever add a field, I would have to then add it to both forms and I could see that being something that could be potentially forgotten about down the road.

However, I can't seem to figure out how I could have the same form start in different spots in the process - and if it starts in a different spot, it has to then given the ability to add the scan of the check in that is normally done in the first step of the bigger process.

Any suggestions on how to make this as clean as possible or am I just going to have to use two separate forms?
