    Using Form Schema/Other Source Files

Hello, I am currently in the middle of a project in which I will be combining 5 separate forms that have all different fields/rules. I have figured out how to copy/paste the fields and groups that I want into a different form's schema file, but I'm having problems figuring out the rules. Anyone have any tips for extracting the rules from schema in order to place them in another form? Thank you.

The rules are in the manifest file - If your XPaths will be the same this might work, but I've not tried this. I've updated existing rules in source files before, but you'll see there is a ruleset ID that is used as a reference that needs to be unique. Search the manifest.xsf for ruleset and you'll quickly see what I mean. :)

Hi Hilary - Thank you for responding! I'm in the manifest.xsf file right now and I can't find anything related to "ruleset". Also, this file is only 60 lines long. I've attached this file. You said you've updated rules in the source files before.. Which file did you use to make these changes? Thank you for the help!

Yep, there are no rules here. Maybe add one somewhere? I thought you had a bunch of forms you were trying to combine by using various info from form source files? So, I'd guess one of those existing forms does have rules already? Am I not understanding what you are trying to do? Again - I've never tried to copy rules from one form to another using the info in the source files - I've only made mods to existing rules in a single form's manifest.

Well there was one on the form I used. I was just using a test form to figure out how to do it before I messed around with 30+ rules in those other forms. Here is one of those forms that has rules. I think you understand what I'm trying to do.. I just don't know where to look. Thank you!

Ah - these are formatting rules. Those are in the view files. I honestly think you are going to be better off just recreating these instead of copying and pasting anything. But you can look in the view xsl files for these. Just search on your rule name.
