[Infopath 2010] Importing data from sharepoint (2007) list.

Hi all I've been self teaching with Infopath and past few months. So far I've made a form which posts the results into a sharepoint list. The form contains a data picker to pick the date you wish to attend a course but I recently came across a excel spreadsheet of all the course dates for the year with locations. I imported that spreadsheet into a sharepoint list and created a data link to the infopath form. I also worked out how to get the dates to show in a drop down, but this is where my efforts end. Firstly the data shown in the drop down isn't in the right format. In the list, the date is 02/03/2017. In the dropdown it is 03-02-2017 0000. I've tried to work out how to change the format to use show 02/03/2017 but I can't. Also, the end game here is for the form to check the data on the list and only show the list of course dates based on the location picked but also in a certain time window. For example, 90 days prior to the course start date. So it doesn't show the entire list of course dates. I'm slowly feeling my way through but this baffles me, I've googled and couldn't find anything which helped me. Any ideas?

So - if your column in SharePoint is a date time (don't be fooled by the option to display the data as a date only - the stored data is still date time), you'll generally see the data returned in the yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm:ss format. However, it looks like you are seeing something else, as you say your dropdown shows a different format. I would probably add another column to the SharePoint list that is calculated and create a pretty date there that you can use for the display in your dropdown.
