Cannot hide calculated control on a web form

    Hi.

I've created an Infopath from for Sharepoint. It's working fine except for this: Formatting rules to hide calculated controls don't seem to work. I can hide other controls no problem, but no matter what I do, Calculated Value controls are always visible.

This is Infopath 2013 on Sharepoint 2013.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

I assume you're referring to the control "Calculated Value"? I tried it out on my end and not indicating a condition makes the control visible. I suggest you try adding a condition to this control in such a way that if said condition is true, it will hide the calculated value control. This workaround works on my end.

Thanks for your reply, but maybe you didn't read my post. As I already said, I can hide other controls using formatting rules with no problem, but the same formatting rules don't hide Calculated Value controls.

Here's my simple situation: I'm using a Calculated Value control to act as a Label for a Text box control so I can hide both objects when a condition on the form changes. The formatting rule correctly hides the Text box, but the Calculated Value control stays visible.

I'm looking for ideas what might cause this behavior and how do I correct it. I'm not having any other issues with this form.

Oh! I wonder - did you maybe copy / paste the calculated value? If you right click and select the properties, does the Text or Data Source have a value? Sometimes I copy / paste calc'd values and it somehow corrupts them, and the conditional formatting stops working....

Ha! That must be it. I re-created the Calculated Value control, applied the Formatting rule and it WORKS. So simple! [smacking myself in the head]

    Thanks!

I can not tell you how many times this bug has bitten me. Glad that is what it was. :)
