InfoPath Dev

I have an InfoPath 2010 form w/qRules.  There is a rich text field that the user requires to be filled in before submit.  I am currently disabling the submit button if the field is blank.  Works great until I publish to SharePoint.  Seems that rich text fields can have hidden html in the browser.  GRRR.

Do you know of any way to clear out the field, or another way to disable the button?  Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

 This doesn't reproduce for me - I have a rich text box on my form, and added an expression box with an expression to check if the field is blank (my:field1 = ""). It returns true when there is no content in the RT field. If I type content in and tab out, the expression box returns false.

Do you have any other rules that might be hiding your submit button? Or do you need to check the RT box to make sure it doesn't just have a line return or something? 

I have a formatting rule to disable the button if the field = "".  It works fine in InfoPath, it is only when it is published and viewed in the browser where it doesn't.  I Googled this issue and got a LOT of hits, but I could not find a solution.

I was just wondering how you'd determined that it had content in it - mine doesn't seem to (yes, I also checked in the browser). Can you save an XML file from the form where you think the RT has content so we can verify that?

Well...I guess I can't verify that it had something in it except for the fact that the rule didn't work and a bunch of articles said that was the cause.  The articles did say that on some of the forms it was blank on a new form, but if they went into the field and typed something and then deleted it, it was no longer "empty."  I actually clear the field up front (set it to spaces), which may be why it doesn't work on new.  I need to leave now, but I will try to get you the XML tomorrow.

If you are setting the field to space characters, it won't be blank You can just leave the Value blank in your rule to set it to blank.
