Hi there, I am sorry if this is a silly question. I have searched for a fix all over. I created a list with contact information and it has a column named "Notes" (Multiple lines of text / Enhanced rich text (Rich text with pictures, tables, and hyperlinks)). When I display the content of this cell in a view (webpart in a wiki, i.e.), I am able to select content from it. However, if I open the Item in the custom view I created in InfoPath, Data is selectable but it "resets the selection" in a second or so, so I am not able to copy that selection and paste it where I need. Any idea what I did wrong?

This sounds kind of strange. I don't think it is anything you have done - can you create a new list with a column with the same rich text settings, and then NOT modify the form in InfoPath, and see if the default form has the same issue?

Hi Hilary, thanks for your reply and support  I created a new list, added a column with the same setting, created an Item, and posted data that I was not able to select. As I opened the Item, in its default view I was able to select the content, no issues. So we are narrowing down the issue to the custom form itself, correct?

Yup, seems like it. :) Is the control in the form just a rich text control? Let's see - if I were doing this, the next thing I'd do is take the new list, customize the InfoPath form and republish without making any changes in the form, just to see if the issue reproduces once the form is InfoPath and not the default SharePoint form - does that make sense?

Yes it does make sense to me what we are testing, but the result and the issue itself is driving me nuts =( The test reproduced the issue. I opened the form of the new List in InfoPath and saved it, without making any changes. The behavior that was “able to select” is now “unable to select”.

At least now you know it wasn't something you did to the form. :) Does putting the site into your Compatibility View Sites in Internet Explorer make any difference in the behavior?

I tried that as well. It behaves the same in IE, Chrome and Firefox. Not sure if this can help: if the content is long, and I select if away from the top, when I lose the selection, if scrolls back to the beginning of the Notes field, as if I had clicked on an anchor and the bookmark was the first line.

I just don't know, sorry - if I have a chance I'll see if it repros on one of my sites. What version of SharePoint?

sp2013. I reset the original List to Default form and I was able to select. I saved the customized form a gain and same issue. So I reset it once more and I’m able to select. I then looking into the content and I see it all messy. In the default view, I can edit info and it looks nice. The custom view messes all the formatting. lots of & #160; plus it's all in a div

Can you attach a screenshot of the issue? Under the Options tab in a reply.

As an update: Im escalating to IT support. they reproduced my list in their test environment and they see the same issue. Seems like an issue on Application level.
