    preceding-sibling xpath formula in repeating table infopath access database to calculate value

    Hi Guys, I have two tables in access database Employee Info(Parent) and Vacation Info(child). With in vacation info I have 2 fields Used_Vac_Hrs and Temp_Vac ------------------------------------ I want to copy the previous row value of Used_Vac_Hrs into Temp_Vac field . ----------------------------- I tried formula like : " preceding-sibling::Vacation_Info[1]/Used_Vac_Hrs " ------------------- " ../preceding-sibling::dfs:dataFields/d:Employee_Info/d:Vacation_Info[1]/@Used_Vac_Hrs " ---------------------- nothing is working for me . All shows error message " does not point to a valid location path of a field or group" -------------------------- Xpath for Field Used_Vac_Hrs is : /dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:Employee_Info/d:Vacation_Info/@Used_Vac_Hrs" --------------------------------------------------- Xpath for Field Temp_Vac is : /dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:Employee_Info/d:Vacation_Info/@Temp_Vac" ----------------------------------- I also attached the screen shot for hierarchy of my fields . Please help... note: I am creating this form on shared network drive NO sharepoint etc. THANK YOU Friends..

    Where are you putting this formula? In Temp_Vac as a default?

    Yes i am putting in temp_vac as default. My goal is to use the previous value from used_vac_hrs so that in the access databae i can store the total hours used and then can subtract from the total to show the remaining hours

    I'd think as a default in Temp_Vac: ../preceding-sibling::d:Vacation_Info[1]/@Used_Vac_Hrs
