    What do you have to do Or who do you have to be before someone actually answers a question you post?

    Seriously, I have posted at least 4 questions and all went unanswered. I thought this site was designed to help "anyone" who develops InfoPath forms and SharePoint Form libraries /list. I've already designed the form...a Workflow runs when a user adds the form to a forms library. I only need help / some insight on sending emails to a person whose name is stored in a Repeating Tables field on the form. The form has 2 views. View 1 is used by the user to report a problem, View 2 is used by the person who will help to solve the problem and this person may decide to add others to the issue. If so, they would use the names stored in the drop-down list of additional people to add. ..each person selected and added to one of the fields in the repeating table should get an email. Any ideas.

    Hi, Kim - this is a community forum.

    Members reply to questions in a purely volunteer fashion. I'm sorry your questions have been overlooked thus far - it may be no one had anything to contribute. And yes, the site is intended for "anyone".

    Do you promote the repeating field with the people you want to send email to? When you promote a repeating field, one option is to "merge" the information - that separates it with a semi-colon. Can you store the account ID instead of the display name? I'm wondering if SharePoint workflow may work with semicolon delimited account ids - I am pretty sure InfoPath Filler will resolve email addresses correctly with that, but not sure about ShP workflow... another option might be to use form logic to get the email addresses of users and promote that so you have it for your emails. You can use a double eval to concat a repeating field if needed, but since promoted properties already support merge, I don't think it will be necessary.

    Hi Hilary, I really appreciate your response. All that I am trying to do is force the data from the 3 column repeating table control (that users will complete ) to 3 different columns in a sharepoint forms library....and if the entries post Then I would have the workflow send an email to whoever is in the fields. I have the fields set to promote with Merge function, but I can't seem to get the argument right. I created a hidden field of Text(string) data type with the name repeatingTableData to the Main data source of the form. I want to add an Action rule to the "FirstResponders" field that Set's a fields value: repeatingTableData = eval (eval; (AssignEscalators, 'concat(my:FirstResponders, "|", my:MEITLeads, "|", my:BusinessResources_SMEs, ";") '), "..") BUT no matter what I do I continue to receive error messages about the argument. I even got the Xpath from the fields itself, but I cant seem to get pass the setting the fields value so that I can move on to SharePoint where I can create a custom list for the repeatingTableList

    Is the semi-colon after "eval" a typo? Can you click the Edit XPath checkbox in the formula editor and paste in the actual XPath you are trying? Can you also include the details on the syntax error you get for your formula?

    Re: What do you have to do Or who do you have to be before someone actually answers a question you post?

    Yes, the semi is a typo. the Xpaths from the 3 columns are: /my:myFields/my:group17/my:AssignEscalators/my:FirstResponders /my:myFields/my:group17/my:AssignEscalators/my:MEITLeads /my:myFields/my:group17/my:AssignEscalators/my:BusinessResources_SMEs But I was under the impression that I need to do an evaluation first in order to capture all the rows that a user added....so the argument would look like eval (eval(AssignEscalators, 'concat (my:FirstResponders, "|", my:MEITLeads, "|", my:BusinessResources_SMEs, ";") ') , "..") .....but when I try to finish it, I get an error message about missing characters or unexpected characters.

    Here is a sample - I dummied up your data source, and added two calculated values on the form - one using your formula (I don't get a syntax error, by the way) and one with a different double eval I think may do what you want. Save the sample locally. Right click and select Design to open in design mode. From there you can preview and add some rows to the table, fill out fields, and see what the return from the two different formulas is.

    I don't understand what you did. Can you send me the entire formula please. When I opened the form all I saw was || and then ;;;;;;

    I saw the fields, but I couldn't open it in design mode either

    What error do you get when you try to open in Design mode? Here's a 2010 version, in case you are using InfoPath 2010.

    I'm using InfoPath 2013 and SP 2013. I saved your file in my forms folder to see if then I could open it in Design mode but still this is the only view I have access too. What I am struggling with is the syntax for the formula that forces the data from the repeating table fields to the repeatingTableData field and from there I would continue....that is why I asked if you can just show me how to write the argument in the formula window. Shouldn't I be able to set each fields value to the repeatingTableData field and set the evaluation - which I am really struggling with because it requires a concat function that I am sure I am not doing correctly.

    This is the Error message that I get from the Insert Formula window in InfoPath: Unexpected character. eval(eval(AssignEscalators, 'concat(my:FirstResponders, ‘;’)'), -->“

    Maybe you could attach a copy of your template to a reply so I can understand a bit better what you are trying to do. If you can open my sample in design mode, you should be able right click on the calculated values and take a look at the formulas I'm using.

    At least in this latest version of your formula you have pasted in it appears you have smart quotes around the ; symbol. Those aren't recognized.
