Hi, We have a moss2007 site with form libraries having infopath forms published directly to it. When I click on new in the form library i receive the following error. Form template: siteURL/Forms/template.xsn The following form template for the form cannot be found: siteURL/Forms/template.xsn This same form was opening previously. But now it does not. Breaking my head over solving this problem as I cannot find anything in the error logs. Does any one know how to fix this error? Thanks in advance for all help.

 Does the template open on other machines? If you go to the library settings, under Advanced, and click Edit Template, does it open in design mode?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. My machine has win 7 and IE 11. Checked on another machine with Win 7 with IE10 - the form does not open. Other users with Win 7 & IE10 have also reported the same. Checked on IE8 - the form opens without any issues. Clicking on Edit Template(in advanced settings of form displayed in content types) opens up a blank infopath in design mode. Thank you.

The library is set to use content types then? If IE 8 is working, have you tried adding the site to compatibility view in IE 11 or 10?

Yes the site is added to compatibility view. Yet the client infopath form does not open.

What if you go to the form templates library where the content type is - can you open it directly from there? Sorry, I really don't know what is going wrong, just figured it would be worth a try. I'm guessing template.xsn is NOT the content type you actually want. "Form" isn't set as the default content type for the library, is it?

I tried checking by giving the siteURL/Forms/template.xsn url directly in the browser. It opens the file open save dialog.
When i choose open, I receive this error.
Could not open 'Site Url/formLibraryName/Forms/template.xsn?OpenIn=PreferClient&NoRedirect=true&XsnLocation=formLibraryName/forms/template.xsn'.
But if I choose save and save the template on my local machine and then double click on it in my local machine it opens without any error.
I am really not able to figure out what is wrong. Thank for all your help.

On the site where the content type is, there is likely a library where the content type resides - I was suggesting you go to that library to try to open the form directly. Sorry - I really don't know what is going wrong for you here. Based on the error, it sounds like SharePoint is trying to open the blank content type created when the form library was created. Maybe try creating a new library and activate the same content type there and see what happens.

I just created a new IP form with few controls and published it to the site content type. So checked the new form from the library in which the content type resides. The form exists there, but it does not open.
Neither does the form open when I click on new in the form library where it is set as the default content type.
Am I missing something crucial which should be helping the form to open?

Do you get the same error you mentioned at the beginning of this thread? Or a different error? What version of InfoPath are you using? Just for reference - I have InfoPath 2013, Windows 10 and IE 11, and can open InfoPath filler forms from SharePoint 2007.
