Are Infopath forms on Sharepoint subject to the same lockout issues when more than one users tries to access them?

We are using Infopath forms to view/update an excel spreadsheet (don't even ask why we are doing it this way).  Both the form and the spreadsheet will be on Sharepoint, and the users will access the form there.  I know that normally when you check out a file on Sharepoint, others can only view that file until the first user has checked it back it.  Will that be the same case with the Infopath form?  If so, is there another way we can give multiple users access to fill in the Infopath form so that no one will be locked out?  I probably should mention that this is Infopath 2007 (yeah).

This is my first experience with Infopath and I like the form design features.

Multiple users can open the same template. They fill it out and submit individual forms (XML files - some of this depends on your form logic). Since InfoPath doesn't have out of the box connection to work with Excel, I'm assuming your form has code?
