    Dropdown list questinon again

I have asked a similar question before but now a new problem has come up.

I have a form with a dropdown list in a repeating table. The dropdownlist has a display name and an index value that needs to be referenced as well as the name. When a user fills out the form and saves / submits it, the data gets passed to the next form properly but if the user re-opens the form that they filled out(an email gets sent with their form attached for future reference, the dropdownlist shows the value instead of the display for that item.

For example, in an Expense Claim form the user selects Airfare that has a value of 269. When the form is reopened, 269 appears at the top of the dropdown selected instead of the display name Airfare.

What is happening and how can I fix it? Examples would be great.

    Thanks,

Sounds like for some reason the data connection that feeds the value/display name pairs to the drop-down list box control is not being connected to when the user opens the form from email.

I conidered that except that all the entries from the database are still showing up in the list. When you click on the dropdown, the rest of the items have loaded and they are showing the correct display names.

To display the name instead of the value, InfoPath compares the value in the XML to all of the values you have established as the source values in the secondary data source. If it finds a match it displays the name instead of the value. If it cannot find a match it simply displays the value. In your case it seems like the value that is being saved into the XML is not the same as is in the database.

You could put the repeating table from the DB in the form and look at it for debug purposes, and then take it from there.
