    Disable connection after submit

I have a form that is set up to retrieve information from a sharepoint list.  I refresh this list monthly.  When I open previously submitted forms, it shows the new data.  I don't want this to happen since the way the form is filled out is dependent on the data we have at the time they fill it out.  I want to be able to remove the connection or have it not be updated when a form that has been submitted is opened.

     Thanks!

My guess is that you have used default values in your form's fields? Is that correct? Or are the controls on the form bound to the secondary data connection?

     Hi.  Thanks for replying!

I am using a formula in for default values.  I have dropdowns that determine what these fields show.  The user chooses a client from a list that is bound to the secondary source.  The revenue field is populated based on what they chose from the dropdown so the default value in the revenue field is a formula that filters the data to provide the corresponding revenue of the client they chose.

So - here is what InfoPath is doing. When you re-open a form, if a default value uses a secondary data connection (and the checkbox to recalculate when fields change is checked), the latest data is used in the formula - the fields "refresh". If you change your form to use rules instead, you'll have more control over this - set rules on your dropdowns to set these fields and remove the defaults. You can test this change prior to publishing by downloading one of your existing files, then, in Form Options > Preview, select the downloaded XML to preview with. You'll see in your currently published form, things updated, but in a form with rules instead of defaults, updates would only occur if you changed the drop down. Make sense?
