    changing the button background to a picture

    im developing an infopath form where selecting a different area on a picture will take you to a different view.

    i have two ideas on how to do this, but dont know how to proceed.

    first idea, set the picture to the background of a table. overlay the buttons (making the background cleaer) in the corresponding cells on the table.

    second idea, splice up the picture in a picture editor, and insert them into the background of each button.

    the problem is, so far, i can figure out how to insert a picture into the background, i can only change the color.

    any ideas?

    thanks in advance...

    Hm, I don't think you will be able to make transparent buttons, so splicing up the image will have to work. It's too bad, because this method is a little more work :(

    Let us know how it turns out!

    maybe this is a dumb question, but how do i change the background of the buttons. logically, i would think i would have to right click on it, go into borders and shading, but in the option box, i can only add custom colors.

    i have no coding experience in Infopath, so I am hoping to avoid that.... but if necessary, i will do (i will be learning it soon anyways).

    alright, im following the tutorial to a T, i get an error after editing the view1.xsl file. when i open it in design view, it says cannot find white space or something, and when i double click, i get this error;

    Form template: file:<<edited to remove personal information>>Orthopedics\New%20Folder\manifest.xsf
    InfoPath cannot open the following view: View 1
    The following view file is not valid: view1.xsl
    The file is not a valid XML document.

    Required white space was missing.

    and an error highlighting the semicolin inserted right before i insert my code.

    any ideas on what i am doing wrong?

    Hello,
    Did you add “; BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(Calculator.jpg); BACKGROUND-REPEAT: no-repeat” at the end of Style that is (style="BORDER-RIGHT: #808080 6pt; BORDER-TOP: #808080 6pt; BORDER-LEFT: #808080 6pt; WIDTH: 250px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #808080 6pt; HEIGHT: 250px; BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(Calculator.jpg); BACKGROUND-REPEAT: no-repeat"). If not please add that to the end in style.

    Hope this helps!

    since i posted this:

    you can set the background of a table to a picture. then set the background of the button to none and it is see thru. hell of a lot easier than doing each button individually.

    Just a friendly reminder that anytime you hand author the XSL you risk incompatibility with InfoPath. The designer could blow away your changes or future clients won't even be able to open the form.

    The way we workaround this to select the button and choose the WebDings or other such dingbat font and then set the button label to the appropriate character to display the symbol we want. You can use the Windows Charater Map (under Program Files, Accessories, System Tools) to quickly find a picture that works.

    Re: changing the button background to a picture

    Hi,

    I have changed the button background on my browser-enabled form to a picture as written here http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/greg/archive/2005/06/08/Create-a-Picture-Button.aspx

    And it works. But after publishing a form to SharePoint site, pictures are disappeared.

    Also, i have added pictures with prompts to the form in the following way - added  such strings to the sourse code of form:

    <img style="WIDTH: 20px; HEIGHT: 15px" alt="max.length 200 characters!" src="info.gif" mce_src="info.gif"/>

    Pictures are present, but with no prompts after publishing.

    Please, suggest how to do this things in browser-enabled forms!!!!!!!
