How to extract data from xml files stored in SharePoint

    Hello,

I have more then 500 xml files stored in Sharepoint and from there I need to build a report. Infopath form itself has repeating tables with 9 (text, dropdown or check box) fields. After submission I can see the link to a file I created but I cannot see the content. What would be the best approach to open and extract data from those xml files and what tool I should use (Access, Excel or something else)? Thank you,Nesin

Yeah - this is the tough part, unfortunately. You can promote those repeating fields and merge them - that will give you semi-colon delimited items in each column. But in order to actually flatten the data out, you may need a third party tool. DBXL can be used to write your data to SQL, whereupon you can use Access or Excel or other reporting tools like SSRS or Crystal Reports. It should also be possible to copy the data out of the library into a DB using SSIS (may have to use a script component though). Oh, and I've never tried this - but it is free and may be worth a try.

You are THE BEST, thank you!

    P.S. I will try InfoPathDB...
